Our CSP Accounting & Finance Practice has partnered with our client in search of a Director of Accounting. The Director of Accounting guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures. The Director of Accounting directly supports the Accounting and Corporate teams with responsibilities across the spectrum of financial control and reporting for this multi-divisional and rapidly growing business.
Essential Functions:
- Perform monthly closing activities and review of financial statements for all business units.
- Perform off-statement analyses, cost accounting, business metrics, and reporting assistance on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Prepare reconciliations and discrepancy investigations – balance sheet recs (e.g, bank recs, credit cards, and payroll-related liability recs) and assist the Accounting Supervisor with any investigation of vendor accounts.
- Support the documentation and implementation of processes, controls, procedures, and approvals for all accounting-related activities and decision points.
- Assist with reviewing and recording prepaids, accruals, and cost allocations across multiple business units and locations.
- Perform fixed asset and capital expense reporting.
- Assist with payables verification and quality control prior to payments release.
- Multi-State sales and use tax management – accurate and timely submission of sales tax returns and payments, business license registrations, renewals, and annual filings.
- Provide guidance and oversight of payroll process with in-house administration and third-party software.
- Provide support for the annual budgeting process.
- Provide timely support for in-house accounting inquiries from business unit leaders specifically and all employees in general.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook and Excel expected.
- Experience with Point-of -Rental software preferred.
- CPA required.
- Payroll experience required.
- Knowledge of adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Knowledge of Paycom payroll software and related best practices including federal and state law preferred.
- Knowledge of multi-state payroll tax, ERISA, ACA, and federal filings such as the 5500s, 720, 941, W-2s, etc., preferred.
- Attention to detail and a passion for accuracy while maintaining a discipline for deadlines.
- Adherence to the level of record-keeping and process documentation necessary to support external audits.
- A bias for action and continuous improvement.
- Self-motivated, organized, and excellent time management skills.
- A true team player with excellent written and verbal communications.
