Director of Personal Lines

Chesapeake Search Partners is partnering with a well-established independent insurance and risk management firm to find a Director of Personal Lines. This is a strategic, client-facing leadership role overseeing a high-performing team, POD operations, and carrier relationships.

The ideal candidate brings an entrepreneurial mindset, thrives in a consultative environment, and takes pride in delivering exceptional service and proactive risk management guidance. This non-sales role offers stability, growth opportunities, and commission/bonus potential.

Independently manage and retain a complex and/or high-volume book of personal lines business, including high-net-worth accounts
Serve as the primary client relationship manager, delivering proactive, consultative insurance guidance
Lead renewal strategy, including exposure analysis, remarketing decisions, and client presentations
Identify coverage gaps, evolving exposures, and account-rounding opportunities
Prepare comprehensive market submissions and negotiate pricing, terms, and coverage with carriers
Leverage strong carrier relationships to advocate for clients and secure competitive solutions
Serve as a technical resource and mentor to Account Advisors and Account Executives
Partner with Producers and Leadership to share market intelligence and improve departmental performance
Oversee complex service matters and ensure compliance with agency and carrier standards

3–5+ years of progressive personal lines insurance experience
Demonstrated success independently managing a book of business
Experience working with high-net-worth or complex risks strongly preferred
Advanced knowledge of personal lines products, underwriting guidelines, and coverage strategy
Strong analytical, negotiation, and client communication skills
Active Property & Casualty insurance license required
