Chesapeake Search Partners has been engaged by a well-established real estate development and construction firm to identify a Senior Construction Manager to join its growing organization. Headquartered in the Mid-Atlantic, the company has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality multifamily developments through a disciplined approach to project execution, collaboration, and operational excellence.
The Senior Construction Manager will serve as a key leader within the organization, overseeing multiple construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout while acting as the owner's representative throughout the project lifecycle. This individual will be responsible for managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractor relationships, consultant and client communications, and overall project execution, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Working closely with internal stakeholders, design teams, and trade partners, the successful candidate will bring an ownership mentality, strong leadership skills, and extensive construction experience to coordinate all aspects of project delivery. This role is ideal for a hands-on construction professional who combines technical expertise, sound judgment, and relationship management skills to drive successful project outcomes while maintaining exceptional quality and customer satisfaction.
Project Management & Delivery

Lead construction projects from preconstruction through final completion and owner turnover.

Develop and manage project schedules, coordinating activities with field teams and trade partners to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Proactively identify and resolve issues impacting schedule, cost, or project execution.
Trade Partner & Stakeholder Coordination

Serve as the primary point of contact for subcontractors, consultants, architects, and ownership throughout the project lifecycle.

Coordinate trade sequencing, lead project meetings, manage RFIs, and facilitate communication among all project stakeholders
Preconstruction & Contract Administration

Lead subcontractor procurement, including bid packages, contract negotiations, and scope development.

Review construction documents, identify constructability improvements, and develop value engineering recommendations when appropriate.
Budget & Financial Management

Develop and manage project budgets, monitor costs, forecast financial performance, and administer change orders while maintaining accurate documentation.
Quality Control & Project Closeout

Oversee project quality, coordinate inspections, punch list completion, owner turnover, warranty support, and all closeout documentation.
- 10+ years of progressive construction experience, preferably within multi-family developments, specifically wood frame.
- Strong field-based construction background with experience as a hands-on Project Manager.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple construction projects simultaneously.
- Ability to read and interpret civil, architectural, structural, and MEP construction documents.
- Experience with project scheduling, subcontractor management, contract negotiation, buyouts, and budgeting.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, building systems, and field operations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with clients, architects, field teams, and trade partners.
- Experience with truss systems, project closeout processes, and value engineering initiatives is a plus.
